Which sights?

I have Meprolights on all of my handguns and really like them. I just bought a 1911 GI model and am going to change the sights. I like the meprolights because I have a carry permit and think that carry guns should have quality sights that are visible in very low light conditions. I do however like the fiber optic sights that alot of people are using in IDPA and USPSA. This gun may replace my 686 for a carry gun in the future, so I am wondering how durable the fiber optic sights are.
