#9 in 45 ACP?

Anybody out there tried Accurate #9 in a .45 ACP load before? If so, please leave a little feedback or if this is a bad idea let me know I'm stupid.....

AA#9 is too slow for good results in the 45 ACP.

AA#5 or #7 will work fine.

#5 was designed specifically for the 45 ACP.
#7 will work.

No. 9 is really for cartridges like the .357 and .41 Magnums.

AA 2 or 5 are really the preferred powders for .45.

AA 2 is more or less the equivalent of Bullseye, and AA 5 is along the lines of WST (I think).

It would be on purpose, rather than by chance.

The MSDS for Accurate states:

Accurate::No. 2, No. 5, No. 7, No. 9, 4100, 1680, 2200, 2230, 2460, 2520, 2700, MAGPRO, 8700, Nitro 100, 5744, all have an appearance that is a: "Granular Solid Mixture, silvery gray to black."

I can tell you from experience that 2230 and 2520 are round spherical. I haven't used 2,5, or 7, personally, but from the description they are likely either spherical or a flattened spheres or some kind of cut grain that is shorter than it is long, like Vihtavuori N310 is. Either way, they will meter easily.

2, 5, 7, and I believe 9 are also EXTREMELY fine powders -- the grain size is absolutely tiny. Grain size is smaller than 231 or 296.

That has caused me some problems with my Lee Pro Disk as far as leakage is concerned.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the AA powders are cut flake like Bullseye or Unique or extruded like the IMR powders - they are ball powders.

Ball powders measure like water. Never experienced leakage in the Dillon measures. We use a bit of #5 and #9 in certain loads for our ammo. It takes a bit more per round than the others but the metering quality (and OEM pricing) make it a top choice.

It doesn't leak in my Lee measure, but H110 does, so #9 is at least slightly coarser than H110.
