Remington primers?????

Any of you guys use them. My brother stopped by Bass Pro to get primers today, and he got Remington for some reason. New to this, but intended for him to get CCi.

Remington Primers

That is actually all that I use. No problems (Large Pistol).

Enjoy!

Remingtons are very good.

That's all I use in my 264 Win Mag and 7mm Rem Mag loads, very happy with them.

I have used 1 1/2 and 6 1/2 with very good results. Have some 9 1/2 for future use. I would recommend them. They are all I can get anyway. I was able to buy a brick of 1 1/2's a few months or so ago... locally. I've got around 3 thousand 1 1/2 in ration packed 2, 100 sleeves. I sleep better knowing I have that one component. I've got at least 8k Remington primers and I haven't a worry. I've got some CCI but they just are not available in small pistol in my area.

I have used Remington, Wolfe, CCI and now Federal primers. No problems here.

What ya loadin' them in? I've used a bunch of Rem. primers, always liked em.

Although.... I just read a thread about how the 1 1/2s say on the box..not to use them in 357 Sig, .357 Mag, and .40 SW ....

Yep, i just learned of my mistake and sold a box yesterday because I only use small pistol primers for 357 mag and 357 sig.

Remington primers are very good. Just make sure you get the right primer for the application. For instance do not use the 6-1/2 primers in .223 or the 1-1/2 primers in .357, .40S&W, and other higher pressure cartridges.

This isn't just a Remington thing. Wolf will also tell you their small rifle primer is too soft for .223. They recommend their small rifle magnum primer for that and now sell a sr223 primer (which is probably just their mag primer in a new package).

Federals have been my favorite lately...mainly for the reason I haven't been able to find Remingtons in the past 18 months...

With the primer shortage I had to work up loads for 230gr RNL in .45ACP
I found CCI and Remington to be equal in vel (18fps difference_the
Winchester large pistol had the lowest vel's and showed flattened primers
with HP-38/W231 @5.4 grains. The others did not show any flattening at all.
The reason I think is that the Winchesters are for STANDARD OR MAGNUM
LOADS.
I will no longer us the Winchesters in large pistol

Which Bass Pro, Trapperbk? I've been looking for RP 9 1/2's for months now. Federals seem to be working OK and lots of folks like them but....Sure wish this ammo/reloading component "shortage" would die a quick death.

Yeah BassPro has remingtons. First time I have ever used them since I load almost always CCI APS's. They seem to work and are readily avaible down here in Texas.

Have loaded thousands of Rem primers over the years without a problem. They go Bang every time.

5.4gr is way the heck up there for 230gr LRN. I'm not surprised at your results...

Still liking Remington LP primers?

This is an old thread but I am hoping some of you with Remington Large Pistol experience are still watching. I bought a bunch of large pistol recently and they are terrible. I'm loading 45 ACP and have 5 different guns, all good quality; they all fail almost 10% of the time. I use Federal and I have no FTFs.

Anybody else having problems with new Remington LP primers?

Does anyone having problems with primers not firing ever measure their firearm's hammer of firing pin springs for proper force they put on such primer denting things? Then compare them to factory specs?

Springs do weaken with age, just like we do. Springs are easy to replace with factory spec ones that end up smacking primers with enough force to detonate them properly.

I also bought a bunch of Remington LPP recently for 45 ACP, and so far no problems. About 500 used with no FTFs out of my 1911. Maybe a seating problem?

Nine times out of nine a primer failure is the result of a primer not seated deep enough. How are you seating these primers and are they below flush?

Did you try and fire these a second and third time?

If they fired after the first attempt, they most likely were not seated deep enough. If they did not fire after repeated attempts, they could be defective and a call to Remington would be in order.

They are dependable enough. I prefer Federal, but in todays world of shortages, who can be choosey.

I haven't used a Remington primer in quite a few years. So long in fact, I can't remember why I stopped, I'm guessing it's because I have very few recipes that call for them.

I would happily buy some, if needed.
