reloading slugs
while reloading i haven't gotten in to it totally i guess i research to the point of analness my new question is for the purpose of reloading slugs for a 12ga. how may shells would i expect from a pound of powder.. i know it varies from types of powder I'm just asking for a round number.thank you

There is 7,000 gr. in 1 lb. Just divide the grs. your loading into 7,000. 1 hint, if you are going to cast your own Foster slugs, make sure you use pure lead, harder laed is far less accurate.

A classic slug recipe is 21 grains of Unique under a 500 grain slug of lead, at least so I've been told by youtube.
7000/21 = 333 reloads of that recipe in 12 guage. Jimro

I'm using 1oz. lee slugs with wheel weights smelted down if that helps.
what i have been doing is removing 1 1/8 #7 shot shells and replacing the shot for slugs but i want to do a complete reload i guess i should use AA-wads or so i have been told. thanks for all the help i can get!! |
