Traditions Metallic Cartridge Pistols

I have found a few metallic cartridge pistols recently in a couple local gun shops. Anyone have any expereince with Traditions firearms besides black powder? I found a couple Colt 1873 SAA pistols in 44-40, a 1851 Navy conversion in 38 special, and a 1872 Army Open Top in 38 special. My inquiry to Traditions revealed that these were pistols originally manufactured my ASM, but have been discontinued since the AWA buuyout of ASM. Very interested in getting into CAS and have to work within a tight budget. Are these good pistols to start with? Or should I go for the more modeern Ruger Blackhawk or Vacquero pistol to start out?
