PSA AR15 9mm build questions

Hey guys I got a PSA dedicated 9mm lower that accepts Glock mags and I need to get an upper built I know I need to use the PSA bolt that works for Glock mags but I am curious on barrels and such. Are 9mm barrels pretty standardized? I also would like suggestions on spring and buffer weights to try first.

Really your best bet is to order your parts from PSA, a call should provide nessary info for your questions.

I got a PSA glock lower and a PSA upper about a week ago. It runs good so far and is accurate. The price is right too. Here's the upper: http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-1...516446754.html

I'm running a PSA 9mm upper with their "hybrid" bolt carrier group. Being a person of little imagination I have a standard 5.56 buffer spring and a PSA 9mm buffer. It has run fine for me so far.

Seems like when I was in the local PSA store the clerk said that one of the heavy 5.56 buffers would work with the 9mm but I can't remember if it was an H2 or H3. I went with the 9mm buffer instead.

A friend of mine was having some issues and someone recommended he use an AR-10 spring. He did and his carbine is running fine.

You can take a lot of the "bark and blast" out of the 9MM blowback with heavy buffers and a Tubbs .308 Flatwire recoil spring.

I run a PSA Hybrid Colt pattern with a KAK configurable 9mm Extended buffer ( about 7.5oz ) and a .308 Tubbs .... it is very soft shooting now.

Here are some spring weight measurements from David Tubbs... just food for thought.

A2 (old) - 7.6lb closed, 14.5lb open
A2 (new) - 9.1lb closed, 16.7lb open
Tubb Flatwire - 10.5lb closed, 16.3lb open
Tubb .308 Flatwire - 13lb closed, 16.7lb open
SpringCo White ? (standard) - 8.3lb closed, 16.3lb open
SpringCo Red (extra) - 10.5lb closed, 18.4lb open
SpringCo Orange (increased) - 13.9lb closed, 24.8lb open

IMHO, an extra power spring isn't needed , nor wanted.

I tried both the "Red" and "Orange" ... both caused needless muzzle dip, and were slamming the BCG really hard into the breach face

You can see the .308 Tubbs has the extra power where you want it.. while the breach is closed.

Watch this video...

I should add... get a heavy buffer with moving weights... A solid HyWt buffer bounces like a steel hammer on an anvil.... one with moving weights , is like a "dead blow" hammer on an anvil... it just thuds.

I have a 5.4 oz buffer and an Aero buffer spring and it kicks to much on recoil. Need a heavier spring at minimum.

9mm barrels are standardized. Just keep an eye when you buy a muzzle device, 9mm barrels come in a few different threads.

Chainsaw... I just responded to your .308 recoil spring question... BTW I also use a Tubbs .308 Flatwire in my PSA 16" Colt pattern PCC... so if you buy one it can be used ( or tested ) in your 9MM PCC as well.
