So if you were going to look at Dillon presses, who seems to have the best price online? It looks like midway does not carry Dillon, and im not real familiar with other retailers besides grafs and midway.

Buy direct from Dillon - its a fair deal for a very good product.

Brian Enos has a site and he sells Dillon products as well - but I don't think the price is that much different.

How interesting .... I just scrapped my Lee Pro1000, that I used to load .30 Carbine and 9mm, to use the Lee Classic Turret exclusively (to date I'd been using the Lee Classic Turret 4 hole press to load just .357 and .44 magnum.

I have never had a problem with the Classic Turret. It is a pleasure to punch out 125 rounds an hour using it.

On the other hand, the Lee Pro1000 can be 'feast, or famine'. I get so frustrated (I can empathize with your experience and feeling in that department ... spending more time fixing things than producing output).

I really do not need the Lee Factory Crimp Die in the turret head when loading 9mm & .30 Carbine (the seating die does a good taper crimp). This leaves an extra hole in the 4-hole head. Is there any electronic, or optical sensor that can be inserted to monitor powder in the case ?

If you're going to buy a Dillon online, might as well get it straight from Dillon. Prices seem to be about the same anywhere you go. I got mine locally so I didn't pay shipping. Price was the same as Dillon's website. I suspect Dillon is pretty strict about pricing for their retailers.

Lee Pro 1000 is easy.

Keep it lubed, keep it loaded, keep it clean, keep it adjusted, use the hand prime.

suggest the dillon rl 550 i was in the same boat as you but it took me so long on my lee to load a quarter of the shells i love my dillon never load with a lee again

Buy the following:

(1) RCBS Rock Chucker single stage press or Hornady's, or Lymans

(2) If single stage is not for you, buy the Redding T-7. It's the best turret press out there.

(3) Hornady lock and Load auto progressive press.

I have a single stage and a LNL auto progressive press and I use them BOTH.

Food-for-thought: Every Kaboom I have read about on the NET over the last couple of years has been associated with a popular "blue" MANUAL indexing press. IMHO, you significantly reduce your chances of a loading error with a AUTO INDEXING press.

Note however; All of the "blue" presses ARE OUTSTANDING PRODUCTS. Any KABOOM is the fault of the operator, not the press.

I love my "red" LNL and feel it is a better/newer design over the "blue" presses. But, THAT'S JUST MY OPINION!!
