1911/1911a1

I have been trying to find info on a 1911.1911A1 that I have. One older gentleman said he had seen these years ago, but others have said it is a custom job, OK the parkerizing matches , slide says Model of 1911 US ARMY, frame says united states property with EEC, E (front of trigger gauard), and eagle head on the left, right side sr# NO1348xx and below that 1911 A1 with a 1 on the front of the trigger guard. I believe it is a Remington UMC 1911 frame but with 1911A1 modifications, But where they were done I don't know. Any help?

It is a Remington-UMC frame. Too bad some bozo butchered it.

The "1911A1" marking on the right is bogus in that it would not have had that applied by the military. I can't recall anyone offering to do the A1 mod commercially (and I've been paying attention for 50 years now). The Army certainly wouldn't have needed to do it, nor wanted to.

I have a DCM M1911 with an unmodified Reminton-UMC frame and replacement slide, though the slide had the tiny 1911 (not A1) sights installed on it!

For many years I had a Model 1911 dated 1913 like yours.

Yours appears to have been modified, as the original had a flat mainspring housing. And the "beavertail" seems to be longer, as well...

Not sure to which pistol cohoskip is referring, but if mine, the frame remains complete unmodified; I have the slide & all the other parts that came on it so many years ago.

Now, if you want to see a modified M1911:

Totally bogus.
Coolgunsite.com and Proofhouse.com says SN 134800 was a 1916 Colt which would not have the 1918 UMC inspector's mark on it. Remington-UMC did not make but 21,000 or so guns, starting from SN 1.
Maybe an aftermarket frame with surplus parts and parkerized to match.

I by no means to ask this question of demean the gun you have:

Why would someone put a Seecamp DA trigger on a 1911? I think it would be like putting a lift/dump on the back of a Ferrari. I completely ruins the function of being a pure bred sports car, won't be haul anything of much content, kills the natural looks, and spend gobs of $$ for nothing.

Am I wrong? I always viewed the 1911s trigger to be just about the best there ever was.

Too many guns getting me confused.

The gun MoAmmo pictures looks like a Colt M1911 slide on a Model 1911A1 type frame of unknown origin. The frame markings are totally bogus, and I suspect it is one of the many cast clones that are on the market. The USP, serial number and inspector mark are fake and absolutely meaningless in terms of genuine M1911A1 frames.
