I'm goin' pig hunting with moss.500 20ga. Any good stories/ pointers?

So I've added a rail and a Bushnell red dot scope to my favorite little shotgun. Now, along with the 4 round SideSaddle and sling, this dude is a comforting companion with 10 rounds of loaded ammo in or on the gun.

And I'm going pig hunting with it, and its the first time I've shot at pigs with anything other than a 30'06, and I'm a little nervous...

Is there anything I need to know about slugs that's different from a 165 gr. SPBT?

Thanks!

Done little hog hunting, but here's my thoughts.

Use the Rottweil 2 3/4" Brennekes.

Get close, within 30 yards if possible.

Try to break down the shoulder as well as hit the vitals.

Keep close to a climbing size tree.

Good luck...

OK-set for auto double tap!

That's a good idea! I don't have time to get the Brenneke's. What are the specs on that slug? I have a dozen each of Federal classic rifled slug (3/4 oz. x 2 3/4" Hollow POint maximum) and Remington slugger rifled slug (5/8 oz. x 2 3/4" hollow point).

My hunting buddy already scoped his, and he's getting 12" "groups" at 100 yards. That'll kill a pig!

My son and I just got back from a hunting trip for wild boar. He used his 12 gage Winchester with rifled barrel and and high visabilty sights. The county we hunted in did not allow rifles. Dead on shot. Very accurate with just plain slugs. The sabot (spelling?) are very expensive, especially practicing. We got a 200 pound Russian boar. Put a hole on the rib cage the size of a silver dollar. I don't see why a 20 gage should present a problem...not sure though.
Good luck to you. By the ways boars can't see very well. You maybe able to get close up on them. We got with in about 25 yards.

Congratulations! Pork chops 'n' biscuits! YUM!

Good shootin'! I hope I see a few boars to shoot at, but I'd be happy with a little 80lb sow...

I'll update y'all on Monday.
