Austrian Pieper & Co Falling Block

anyone ever heard of this company? Saw one listed like this at an auction but I could not find any info on the manufacturing company.

Pieper was a big maker of volley guns - a small caliber rifle that would fire six or seven rounds simultaneously. I think that the company was Belgian, though, rather than Austrian, but back in the day, both borders and the countries themselves were a little fluid.

Well, in the first place, it is not a falling block.
It is an odd bolt action with hammer instead of striker.
No indication of caliber.

Peiper was a substantial Belgian manufacturer.
So the Austrian bit is about as accurate as the falling block part.

Sears sold a ton of single shot Pieper bolt action rifles in the 1920s and 1930s. I can't say for sure that this is one of them, but if it is, it's just a basic .22 shooter with no particular collector value. By the beginning of the 20th century, the Pieper family had no association with the company.

That's not to say that it isn't worth taking a look - but it definitely is not an Austrian falling block and I don't think that it's worth a premium, but I'm not an expert.

I am no expert and I didn't think it was a falling block either. Just mainly was curious about the name. I might bid on some of the shotguns if they are cheap, just because those are easy to resale and make money on around here. Everybody is going to be needing a bird gun pretty soon
