Ruger LCP .380 Anecdotes

I was at the local outdoor range this weekend, and a guy in the pistol lanes next to me was trying out his Ruger LCP .380 for the first time. I was shooting my 9x18 Makarov to his right.

The guy probably put 50 rounds through the brand new gun, but I don't think he made it through a single magazine without at least 1 failure to feed or failure to eject. He said "Well, it's a brand new gun...what do you expect?"

Is this par for the course with a new gun in some serious need of a break-in period?

My LCP has been flawless and eats any ammo I run through it. I would suggest his problems are not common issues.

Without seeing the problems first hand (what type of ammo, was the gun cleaned and lubed prior to taking it to the range) it's hard to tell what is going on but I don't think break in time will solve it.
