Man's concealed carry briefcase,,,

I work at a University so I can't carry at work,,,
I also really don't like wearing a holster,,,
I've always pocket carried a small gun.

But lately I've been wanting to carry a high capacity 9mm,,,
I tried several holsters and nothing suited me at all.

I was researching handbags for a friend of mine and noticed this briefcase,,,
I suppose one could call it a "murse" as in man purse,,,
I carry a messenger bag all the time anyways,,,
This briefcase is not all that different.

Anyhoo I decided to give this briefcase a try,,,
I've been wanting a nice new leather bag anyways.

This is a brand new item for their catalog,,,
It hit their inventory on the 10th,,,
I ordered mine on the 13th,,,
Received it on the 19th,,,
Free Shipping.

This thing is very nice,,,
Rich dark brown leather and very nicely constructed,,,
The zipper tabs are big, heavy, and thick so my fingers find them easily.

The shoulder strap is heavy woven cloth,,,
But has a steel cable stitched under a thin strip of leather.

The back section has a very large square of velcro sewn in,,,
The enclosed holster fits my CZ-75B very nicely,,,
It velcroes at any angle or position desired.

I know this is not for everybody,,,
But it fits my lifestyle much better than a holster.

I just thought I would share the information with you good folk.

I don't like that when you open the slot the handle goes down ie: you can't be gripping both handles and draw it easily as far as I can tell. I'd rather have it in the front zippered portion. That way you can hold the bag stead with one hand while easily drawing.

I see your concern,,,
Instead of right under the handles,,,
I placed the zipper tabs more on the corner,,,
It's always worn with the strap across my body.

It may be a bit slower than a holster,,,
But I have been practicing with it quite a bit,,,
My poor cat Bart has been aimed at a lot these past few days.

I grab the bag handles with the left hand to steady it,,,
Then zip down with the right and grab the gun,,,
It's really much quicker than it sounds.

Seriously though,,,
This fits my lifestyle very well.

I could keep going if you like, but realistically if it looks as good as the pics and functions in a way that will still allow access to your weapon if needed, then awesome buy - and its going to sound like I'm poking fun, but I hope you take this I intend it - who would suspect that a male carrying such a bag would be armed and know what they are doing?

I had never seen that one before,,,
It's a little bit flashier than the one I bought,,,
But basically it looks to have the same design function.

I would bet it would work just fine.

The most obvious difference to me,,,
Is the placement of the accessory sections.

Mine has:
A 2" thick section suitable for a laptop,,,
A separate 1" section for pens, cards, cell phones, etc,,,
That section also has a flat zippered slot that's the width of the murse,,,
Another thin zippered section on the front that would be good for flat objects like airline tickets.

As well as the section dedicated to holding the mursegun itself.

Look at the back of the murse and you will see what I think is a very clever set of zippers,,,
They open two wide slots whose functions are to go over the handle of a wheelie case so you can piggyback the murse.

I use a small wheelie bag like that almost every day at my work,,,
I'm going to find that one feature very useful on my job.

I hear you. I'm going back to school here soon and looking for a way like you have. NRA one is a bit pricey at this point and time. I'm going to look into the one you have and just checking your brief case out both are the same price. back to the good old cloth medics bag

I have a maxpedition messenger bag that seems to function similarly. Although I don't use it for concealed carry, just as a range bag. I did go ahead and buy the holster that velcros in for desert trips to easily store one pistol while using the other or fiddling with more ammo etc. It has a slot on the outside that could probably be used for standard belt holsters too while keeping the pistol mostly concealed. I guess I got a mursegun bag without knowing it! The only issue I could see with my bag for actual concealed carry is that its entirely soft, so the bag folds around my hip when worn, I tried various positions and without sticking something hard in keep the bag straight I don't think one could easily draw. there was too much interference for a clean draw.

That is a pretty sweet briefcase and with the big loop field on the inside you could also look at maxpedition stuff if you want to add some pouches/pockets or mag holders.

If you are in a location where you think you might need to quickly draw your weapon, just leave the side open so you could slide your hand in and you would still be holding both handles of the bag with the left hand and drawing with the right. You would have to re-position the holster, which shouldn't be a problem with velcro.

Truthfully, it looks like a nice setup for carrying. Wouldn't work for me because the areas where I carry a briefcase (looks something like yours) are prohibited CCW areas in Missouri anyway Otherwise, I might just join the murse group

I am not a huge supporter of case or bag carry.
Handguns should be always carried on your person. As Clint Smith, the USMC combat veteran & tactics instructor says: "handguns should be comforting not comfortable".
I read in the non fiction book: Chief, the late Daryl Gates(the long time LAPD chief)reported that he toted a S&W 9x19mm in his briefcase. I also heard of a SA(special agent) assigned to protect the Sec of HUD(Housing & Urban Development) who was repremanded for constantly leaving suitcases & bags with loaded firearms at offices or events. Not good.
I've seen a few "tactical" type cases with holsters or gear holders but they look a little to "commando" for regular use in most office environments. Galls, www.Galls.com markets a black briefcase that looks discreet but has pockets-holsters. The top of the line Haliburton cases look good too but they are not cheap. QMuniforms.com & Unkle Mikes had black nylon bags too but I don't think they are still made.

But I am taking a lot of good natured teasing about the murse thing.

It's just that one day I noticed that for the past ten years (Student and staff at OSU),,,
I've been carrying a messenger bag to hold all of the stuff I carry on a daily basis,,,
It suddenly dawned on me, why don't I carry my pistol in there as well?

I still need to place my CZ-75B in it's lock-box while I'm at work,,,
But every other place I go that reinforced bag strap is across my shoulders.

And in my automobile, that pouch is a lot easier and faster to get to than any holster I've ever worn.

Handguns should be always carried on your person. As Clint Smith, the USMC combat veteran & tactics instructor says: "handguns should be comforting not comfortable".

That's Mr. Smith's opinion and it may be worthwhile,,,
But it's still just his opinion and in reality is no more valid than mine,,,
Especially since I'm not trying to advance my opinion as gospel on the matter.

I'm just presenting an alternative I have found,,,
That is working very well for me.

Nice laptop case / briefcase.

However, I wouldn't carry my primary in one. A briefcase or purse is one of the first things that gets taken in a robbery. Personally, if you want to have a hi-cap full size with you, by all means keep it in the case, but also keep something small and light on your body.

Keep in mind, this is the same thing most of us men would say to the ladies. Don't keep your CC gun in your purse... Briefcases also get left behind. Talk to any cabbie...

That notebook is very interesting,,,
I wonder how well it conceals when you have it open and are using it?

I have a nice notebook in my leather pattern stash,,,
I've probably made a dozen or more of them,,,
I might try to make one for a small pistol.

The only problem with the notebooks is,,,
I have lost two day-planners by leaving them somewhere.

I've been carrying my trusty old messenger bag for over ten years,,,
I can't recall ever having inadvertently leaving it behind.

I've been using my new briefcase for about a week now,,,
So far I'm very pleased with it's constant presence.

like I stated before,,,
I carried a messenger bag anyways,,,
It never left my sight and the briefcase is the same.

It's a decent alternative for those of us who hate wearing a holster,,,
It's much better than leaving the gun at home.

I still keep my mouse gun sitting on the shelf by my front door,,,
When I go out and don't need/want the briefcase,,,
I still have Scilla ready to go with me.

I also keep my other mouse gun in the lock box under my car seat,,,
That way if I decide to go somewhere that the briefcase is impractical,,,
I can lock up my CZ-75B for safekeeping and pocket carry my other mouse-gun.

I'm very well satisfied with my purchase,,,
I think I'm defining my personal style of carry very nicely.

I know it isn't for everyone,,,
But it seems to suit me very well.

Don P, things to bear in mind:

1) Sam runs a one-man business, with occasional assistance from a friend.

2) The more commonly ordered a holster type is, the less it (usually) costs.

3) Prices often reflect the amount of time and effort that go into making the item. Sam has some gorgeous rifle scabbards (for saddle use), but the one I really like is an $800 item.

4) If you've ever owned or handled one of Sam's products, you'll know they are made to last a long, long time. Top quality leather, double-stitching, in some cases steel reinforcement.

Look at it another way, the price of the large notebook holster is around the same price as a pair of good Lucchese 1883 boots... which is probably a reasonable comparison, in terms of quality.
