SPR220 chrome toast

Hello, I finally got to shoot my new Remington SPR220 today. I put about 40 shells through it which was all my shoulder could take. This thing kicks hard and is loud as heck. Anyway, I was pleased until I went to clean it and all the chrome lining in the forcing cone area came off in strips.

Now this is the only shotgun I have fired and cleaned before but this can't be normal. It is definetaly a beater gun now, good enough for home defense I guess.

I would contact Remington and have them make it right for you.

Problem is I bought it a local gun show without the case or anything. I don't think it has a waranty. I noticed Remington does not carry these cheap guns anymore. It is still safe to use I just have to keep a coat of oil in the bores.

Are you sure the "strips" were chrome or were the plastic form the wads?????

The chrome used to line barrels is no the same chrome as the bumper on your truck. It is sometimes called black chrome and is not silver and bright.

Even if the chrome seperated from the bore the gun is fine to fire. All the chrome does is add a protective layer against the mother metal for corrosion resistance.

Boy do I feel dumb! Turns out it's just lead and plastic pieces from the rifled slugs I shot.
