Civil War Black Powder Rifle-What's It Worth

A friend was offered $200 then $300 and finally $500 for this rifle. Does anyone have an idea what it's worth or a better place to post this. Info is:
USA Model 1863-Ranson Italian SOA
Made in Italy for the Sile co.
Serial # C58XXX - Condition 80%

This sounds like a reproduction of the 1863 pattern musket. The 1863 pattern was very widely used in the Civil War.
Sile is an importer/distributor.

I have to agree with fal308. Sile imported a lot of stuff from all over.

Just to make sure everyone understands. The gun is not a Civil War musket. It is a modern reproduction of an 1863 musket, made in Italy in the past 20 years. It has no historical value, although it may be a good shooter and give the feel of shooting a black powder musket.

Off hand, I would say that $500 sounds like a good offer, probably more than the gun is worth new. But the seller best not claim the gun is an antique original Civil War piece, even if its origin is obvious.
