? One Piece Scope Mount ?

I have a Bushmaster Varminter and I really do not like the way the scope is currently mounted. Yester I noticed that one of the mounts were barely clamped to the base. Here's how it's currently mounted:





You should be able to see in this pic that barely any of the clamp is hanging on. I'm not too confident with this setup.


I have been searching for a decent priced one piece scope mount, but most all of them seem to be extremely expensive.

Here's one that I'm considering, but I was hoping you guys could give some other decent priced options.

they're not cheap,but the Larue SPR and the ADM Recon are both excellent.i prefer the LT personally,but wouldnt turn my nose up at the ADM(i have their Aimpoint mount).

I couldn't be happier with my LaRue mount. It hurt when the credit card bill came, but that pain is long gone and I'm still very, very happy with the mount. Most of the cheaper ones (Wilson, Armalite) won't move the scope forward at all, so you might have eye relief issues.

yeah,i dont see either of those pictured giving you the eye relief you need.

i needed my Larue mounted as far forward on the reciever as possible,with the scope mounted as far forward in the mount as possible....and that was with the extended eye relief Larue SPR model.

you can get the Larue mount almost for free if you're in the market for a nice scope as well.

just check out the package deals on the Larue site.i think G&R has package deals with both Larue and ADM mounts.

...if you're in the market for a nice scope that is.

Promag has a one piece mount for 50 bucks.
they also make a "riser" that gives you more hieght for 20 bucks.

I'm probably just over analyzing this ... which I may tend to so from time to time (so my wife tells me)

This is the Larue mount. I would prefer to have it, but $ $ $. Also, it doesn't appear to give 'all that much' additional eye relief when I compare. I do like the quick detach though.



Here's some pics of the Model 1 Sales one piece scope mount $78.50, but is $64.95 at Galati International. It does mount a bit higher than most, but that's not bad is it?

The eye relief looks more than adequate when comparing to the Larue ... almost identical in eye relief with some to spare. I could also replace the nuts with knobs to aid in a much quicker detach.


ArmaLite $89.00 + shipping/handling. Basically a similar deal as the Model 1 Sales, but lower mounted.

it looks like it would be difficult to get a good cheekweld on something that high.

on the eye relief...

as mentioned,i needed every little bit i could squeeze out with the Larue(mounting both the mount and the scope as far forward as possible).i think the different scopes and rifles being used in those pics might be making difficult to get a good idea of where things will sit...look at how much further forward the rear ring is on the Larue compared to the others.

you'll have the most bomb-proof mount on the market,that he'll replace without question if there ever is a problem...some extra goodies/"swag" if you order direct...

again,i put the ADM(Recon in this case) as a close second and they have excellent CS as well.

I plan on getting some Burris tall rings that have quick release. 30$. If your bell is small enough the rings have a peep to see through.

I have them on a bolt action and they have worked great.

Burris also has a tactical line of rings that are tall. You can put a picatinny top on the tactical ones.

Here's a comparison to how it is currently mounted. This will shift my scope forward at least 2".



It's inexpensive enough to give it a try. If it works out alright I may even replace the two nuts with something like this:

Excelent height and comfortable eye relief. Sometimes it pays off to just visit the local shop. Whoda thunk it.

At $850, I'm guessing the mount is worth more than your rifle. My cousin owns the rifle now, and I've seen similar ones listed on gunbroker for $19K. High-quality doesn't come cheap.

The last mounts I bought were a pair of aluminum rings from cheaperthandirt for $30, and they work just fine on my .357Mag carbine.

I have several Leapold qd one-piece bases.
They are working well.
I look for steel, four screws per ring and a one piece base.

Why not just get some Badger m1913 rings. Price may hurt but they are great rings. Then you don't need to mess with a 1913 to weaver base then weaver rings. I think that would be the best bet.
