Response from Senator Carl Levin(D) Michigan
This is the response I just received from Mr. Levin regarding my email to him about gun rights.

Senator Stabenow
I got a response from Senator Stabenow, also from Michigan, that she will not support further gun control at this time. We'll see.

Its Michigan, what do you expect.... There's a reason the state has lost such a large amount of its population in the last few years. Groupthink is a way of life with the elected leaders.

If they threw in a "IMO" every now and then, I could at least respect the fact that this is their opinion. But when they try to present something as a stone cold fact when they are dead wrong... it frustrates the heck out of me! Gregg |

You won't find many politicians that say what the Second Amendment Right is really about. All we hear is hunting this and hunting that. Responsible gun ownership this and that. When will we see a politician say the Second Amendment is to protect the American people from Washington and State governments? For the record I am not saying that there are none out there that have said such but just wanted to point out how rare it is.

Oh, I'm sure they all have a couple different form letters to suit particular interests. And I'm sure they have one for pro gun control as well.

While I disagree with the good Senator's stand, at least he was honest about what it is.

Except for the fact that that is not the feeling of his contituents, you know, the people who elected him. Michigan has a big problem in that with our heavy industry we are very blue collar, but they don't understand that blue collar guys like to shoot guns. So, they get elected because the political party works in their favor, however, the party is clearly anti gun. It's a catch 22 and unfortunately the population hasn't figured this out yet.
