.223 pet loads, you willing to share?

Im looking to hear from anyone willing to share a pet load or two for .223.

My favorite 2 so far are:
55gr Nosler varmageddon, 23.3 gr of varget LC brass with CCI41 primer
55gr Nosler Varmageddon, 24.5 gr of IMR4064, LC brass with CCI 400 primer

A few of my favorites, all with Varget powder:

- 55 gr FMJ, 26.3 gr
- 60 gr Nosler BT or 62 gr Barnes TSX, 24.6 gr
- 75 - 77 gr BTHP, 23.0 gr

The 75 gr Hornady or 77 gr Sierra MK loads are extremely accurate.

62 gr Prvi Partisan FMJ-BT over 24.5 gr of H-335, accurate and chrono's at over 2700FPS, which I think is sufficient for a 16 inch barrel.

This is a near max load, so approach and watch for signs of pressure.

Any military brass
26.0 gr. of IMR 4895
Rem 7 1/2 primer (this is a magnum primer)

I have tried lots of other powder and combinations, but nothing groups for me like this load. Always under an inch at 100 yards with a variety of bullets.

The main load I run in my Bolt Action Savage Mod 12 FSSV

Note the charge is a listed MAX LOAD in the Nostler Manual and should be worked up to. There are a couple of other manuals that list for more on the powder charge. I did work up to those, and accuracy declined greatly after .3 grains over the listed Nostler max. Sierra list to 25.5 grains for a Max.

55 grain Hornady V-Max, or Nosler Ballistic Tip for bullet
25.0 grains of Hodgdon H-335 for powder
CCI Small Rifle primer
Brass is mixed head stamp. Most being Lake City, or Federal. Some Hornady. I have seen no visable differance in accuracy in different cases.
COL is 2.260

33 gr V max Moly 2.17", 15 gr Blue Dot 3535 fps (26" barrel).

This will sustain 100 shots per hour with out Copper fouling or over heating barrel in several rifles and yet maintain sub moa.

Will not cycle an AR15.

It is a good ammo to see how accurate a 223 can be.

no crimp

This load is a staple of mine. It wont win matches at 1000 yds but it will do what needs doing. I can hold 3 to 4" with it @ 100 yds (irons) and BLC-2 measures beautifully with my 550B. It achieves 3028 FPS/115 ES/35 SD.

I took it up to 27.5 gr before but it's much more accurate at 26.0 for me. I used surplus BLC-2 also. This load is cheap to assemble and very impressive for surplus bullets. It's not quite as accurate in my older Mini but good enough for general use and certainly minute of rabbit even in a Mini @ 100 from field positions.

Not concerned with ultimate accuracy with this, but they do fine. "Minute of Man" is the goal, but I've played with ringing 2' steel out to 400 yards. I run these in a 16" carbine with an EoTech and / or open sights

This load is consistently .5MOA in all three of my .223 rifles.

youve got alot of loads now. Now you just have to get out there and see what your gun likes. Might be the same as soom of these and you might have to find your own.

its not just having info to try different ideas, but it also gives me an idea of common powders used. I have my own pet loads that work very well in my AR, but now I have an idea of a few new powders to try.

The powders I have most seen mentioned for .223 loads are H335, H4895, BL-C2, Varget, IMR 3031, TAC, IMR 4064, and RL15.

I've owned 5 rifles in 223 all with 1/9 twist the common factor in reloading was they all liked the 52gr sierra match bullet @100 yards, using 322, 335,
varget,4895, latest and excellent is CFE223.
IMO try the 52gr match first, Ive never had a 55 gr match it for accuracy.
