9mm Load
I am relatively new to reloading. I recently loaded 100 9mm cartridges using 125 gr LRN bullet, 5.9 gr HS-6 powder with a 1.130" COAL.
It feels like a fairly powerful load compared to some loads that I have recently shot. Does this sound like a reasonable load? |

Hodgdon shows the starting load of 5.9 for 125gr lead bullet. OAL 1.250.
What does your manual say?

You are correct.
I was looking at a bunch of different loads from forum posts. I should just go to the Hogdon Load Database which is what I will work from. Thank you. |

HS-6 is best for high performance loads. I never much liked that powder nor did it give me great accuracy in 9mm and 38 way back when I started realoading. Universal is awsome in 9mm with 115 grain bullets and .40 with 155 grain bullets. W231 works well in 9mm with lead bullet loads.

I'll second the recommendation for Universal and W 231. Power Pistol also works well in 9mm, although I haven't done much experimenting with it using lead, just plated or jacketed–so far I've only worked up a couple 147gr lead FP loads (which are pretty darn accurate). |

9 mm load
I shoot a lot of 125 gr lead round nose bullets in my 9MM's and I have tried just about every poweder. The one I get my best accuracy with is Unique (4.4 grains - please confirm). This is a mid-range load that is very consistant in all my 9MM's. It is bulky powder, but you will reduce the chance of throwing a double charge. Good luck - AZ Rick
