powder prices
Was in a local big box sporting goods store today. They had several cans of 777 and some boxes of 777 pellets. $42.99 each!!! Are you guys seeing such increases at your stores? I usually buy from smaller stores with better prices, but the supply is dry right now. Are these prices normal now?
These were 1lb cans and boxes of 100 .50 cal pellets.

Pyrodex is a rare animal around here. Real black is almost impossible to find. Last can of 777 I bought was about $27. Got a can of Pyrodex a few months back for maybe $30 if I remember right.
Guess I should look around some and if the $43 per lb is the going rate either deal with it before it goes up or hope for the best and wait for a decrease in price. I have enough stocked away for now. Just worried that the upward trend may continue.

24-26 dollars locally for 777. I think I'd advise the seller that I'd be taking my business elsewhere and why. I don't begrudge anyone a fair profit but that's gouging plain and simple.

From
24.00 to 29.00 for 777
and 18.00 to 23.00 for Pyrodex. When I can find it, I buy it.

Personally I don’t use T7 but what im seeing on the self is still going for 17-20.00 a lb around here
BP isn’t that hard to get . Im still getting it for around 12.00 a lb in all grades if bought in 25lb bags . 14.00 a lb in cans either case lot or individual . The real killer with that though is that the hazmat is on and above that . So if you by one can and have it shipped it drives the cost up . So its better to by in case lots . If your looking for BP , what I would recommend is going to the Goex web site and look for a distributor that’s near you. Contact that distributor and either buy directly from them, OR ask if they diliver to someone near you . Then buy from that person |

KIK from Powderinc for $13.70/lb in 25 or 50 pound lots. Shipping and hazmat are included in that price.

The last can of 777 I bought was last summer and it was $17.99 on sale at BiMart. Bought 7 lbs of black powder from Grafs when it was on sale last fall before the panic.

Yup, I agree with ya all. I thought $43 to be extremely high. That's why I asked, and thanks to everyone for the info on your prices.
Woodnbow- I regularly look at this stores stuff and walk away. Their prices are usually somewhat higher than other LGS prices. Problem is though, its a very large chain and my telling em I'm going elsewhere isn't gonna change a darn thing. Spitpatch- some of us can't get Black. No stores stock it. and getting it shipped to Mass is difficult....... Most large sellers won't ship round balls here .

If you can afford it, it's a whole lot cheaper to get any black powder, or substitute by the case.
Good quality holy black by the case can roughly be as low at $12.00 a pound delivered, cheaper if you pick it up, but then you have to pay the tax.

TFL will probably have to re-name this section before long to "Substitutes and Cowboy Action Shooting"
Everything is ridiculous right now price wise, and I figure with the political landscape being what it is, it will only be a matter of time before they outlaw pure black, as it is listed as an explosive instead of a propellant. Pricing here is around $34.00 to $37.00 for pyro with no black available. |
