Copyrights
How is posting a copyrighted image using the (img)(/img) tags not an infringement of copyright?
Is uploading a copyrighted image to the site an infringement of copyright?

From point 5 of TFL's copyrighted materials policy:
"5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it."

Huh.
THR had a different policy, they said hotlinking was acceptable. I have seen members hotlink pictures here, so I assumed there was no problem. ....And know you know. Thanks.

By their very nature, photos are a lot harder to police.
Along with possible copyright issues, hotlinking can also be an issue because it robs other sites of band width. THR's policy is THR's. TFL's is TFL's. "....And know you know." Uhm.... what exactly is that supposed to mean?

I was originally asking because I wanted to know why hotlinking was permitted (I assumed it was the same as THR's policy).
