Scope base/rings retricted from int'l sale?
I found a scope mount and some rings fior a military bolt action rifle for sale in New Zealand.
I am in USA. This warning came up on my computer screen. It appears this item is restricted for export by the U.S. Department of State (DOS) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 CFR, Parts 120-130) or the Department of Commerce under the Bureau of Industry (BIS) and Security Export Administration Regulations, EAR (15 CFR, Parts 730-774). ITAR restricted items require an export license granted from the DOS Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) prior to export. EAR restricted items may or may not require a license, depending on the end user and the ultimate country of destination Is it accurate that rings and a base are included in this restriction? They are copies of a Redfield Jr. I do want to order them, but I do not want trouble. |

Since you are IMPORTING them and not EXPORTING them, you're not in a position to be affected by the ITAR regs that uou are citing.
if Exporting... you actually might be. I was a "Registrant" under the ITAR for many years, as my business was military aerospace material and they restricted the darndest things. Weapons sighting systems might very well be covered. Even some SCUBA diving equipment is covered. Willie . |
