92fs?

I've recently bought a 1994 Beretta 92FS in mint+ cond.
It's a beautiful, accurate, full size 9mm and I love it.
I bought it on the recommendation of someone who's knowledge & opinions regarding firearms I respect.
I did not do very much pre-purchase investigation into other 9mm handguns.
My question is, I know I have a good gun.
I'm just curious as to HOW GOOD it really is when compared with everything else put there.
What is it's place in the Pantheon of 9mm pistols?
Thanks in advance!

Only my opinion, but you couldn't have found a finer example of craftsmanship in an automatic pistol. I carried one for several years in LE and own two at the present. One of them is my issue weapon which I bought upon retrirement. It's now 18 years old and shoots as beautifully today as it did the day it came out of the box. Just working the action of a Beretta alongside another make points out the difference immediately. Again, just my opinion.

I agree with the last post. The 92fs has proved to be an excellent standard in 9mm versatility. It is one of the most simple full-size pistol designs, and is easy to maintain.
