Who to bobtail my commander?

I've got a SW1911PD commander I want a bobtail job on. Who do yall recommend do the work? I'd like to find someone local to Texas but it's not that big of deal. Also about what's the going rate for this type of work?

$140 to $175 is what my research has discovered.

Figure $60 to $80 for the Ed Brown Bobtail mainspring housing, 60 to 90 minutes of a gunsmith's time, plus refinishing if necessary.

bobtail

Sir;
I've bobtailed several and with the bobtail part and the installlation jig you can do this yourself if you're handy with a file at all. Probably the whole mess wouldn't cost you much.

I don't know about doing the work myself. I'll completely strip my jeep apart but I don't know enough about working on firearms to feel comfortable with that.

If you're near Dallas, I'd give it to Ken Crawley. He's got my Commander right now for a trigger job and sights.
