DON'T PANIC!! and don't overpay for Hi Cap Mags.
Even if you live in Arizona.
Why, you ask? First, In the United States, the individual is responsible for his actions. We've all learned that gun legislation won't stop the criminally insane. Outside of the LE & Military, Hi Cap magazines are really only practical at the range. Allowing the shooter to send more rounds before reloading mags. Not to mention that with regular training, you can swap mags as fast as you need too. Granted, there will be voices, such as Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) who are perennially anti-gun. However, with a GOP House and enough Democrats owning guns themselves, the chances are nil that any Federal ban will pass. So, relax, don't fall for the hype and end up like we did last year when there was supposedly no more ammo. ______________________________________________ Sight picture, Breathe, Smooth Trigger Press... to go along with that a lil humor with some truth mixed in... http://tv.gawker.com/5732292/jon-ste...izona-shooting
Honestly, i have no need for a 33 round magazine for my glock 19, i have one just for fun though and to show off with... but i a 15 round magazine is perfectly viable for self defense. |

Absolutely agree.
If you're one of the smart folks, like many here are, you already have enough "Hi Cap" mags to keep your own guns fed indefinately. I know I do. Maybe I need to buy a case or two to sock away and sell if things get crazy again like they did in '94 and "95 after the AWB. I can tell you there was $$ to made during that time. Some people will remember the days of $60-$100 for individual Glock magazines. :barf: I don't ever want to go through that again unless I am the one doing the selling. Rob

I carry either a Glock 23 or 19 daily and keep them loaded with the standard 13 and 15 round magazines. For reloads I carry the slightly larger magazines from the Glock 22 and 17.The guns conceal easier with the standard length magazines and I think that if I ever need to reload I'm going to want the extra rounds from the magazines of the larger models.

I live in MA. This state never repealed the original AWB so we can't get (new) hi-cap mags anyway.
I really hope the antis never take that freedom away from you free (or free'er) states.

I always thought the reason you had a pistol with a high capacity magazine was so you didn't need to carry a spare magazine.

I'm sure this thread will be moved or locked, but I thought I'd throw in my 2cents.
What the anti-gun folks should realize is- the most often used guns in crimes and the most "deadly" are the cheap ones. The 22's and 25's made of pot metal and available everywhere for REALLY cheap. Last time I checked the Raven 25 was on the top of the list of "crime guns". Just sayin...

One of the ranges I use only allow a max of 5 rounds in a firearm. So I load two pistols with 5 rounds each.

Not going to Panic here, thankfully we have more pro gun than anti gun politicians currently on the hill. Even if a new de-facto assault weapons ban made it's way through the senate I doubt it would do so in the house. Even if it did at most I would pick up more 15 round .40 S&W mags for my sig.
To me, the sucky part would be having to find a "pre ban" P-229 E2 in 9MM like the one I was planning to buy Q3/Q4 of this year. @Nicks , did you ever ask them why? is it a zoning or insurance thing or is it a legal thing? |

Brian, i used to live in mass and still go to college there. I feel your pain but living in Florida now is the greatest thing ever. Although, gun prices in MA and CT are some of the lowest in the country. for the ones you can buy

I can walk into my local gun store and buy a 33 rd glock mag right now, probably 4 or 5 of them, but who wants to even carry that? MAYBE good to keep in the truck but I trust that my 13 and 15 rd mags will be sufficient if the need arises. wouldn't mind one for the range though.

Back in November 2010 I bought four, 15 round M9 magazines for my 92FS and paid $50 for them. I’m now very happy I bought them.

Ok I lied, the more I think about it living here in Illinois once public anger is at its peak over the new tax hike Quinn will have to do something to calm people down. Like a ban on certain types of magazines for "evil" guns. I think I am going to buy a couple of mags direct from SIG tomorrow.

Honestly, didn't the whole 94-04 dry spell teach us anything? Those $20 round mags you see at gun shows were $75 not too long ago.
Sometime within the last six years we should have bought anything and everything we think we'll ever need. When the AR craze hit after the Barackalypse in November 08 I was certainly happy I had already bought everything I wanted. |

Glock 33-round magazines should generally retail for around $44-50 in most markets. Distributors have them in stock: they are not scarce or non-existent.
There is no reason they should be $80-100, yet there was a guy at last Sunday's gun show charging just that. Anyone claiming that they're marking them up "because of the ban" is lying, and deserves our contempt and scorn.

The left wing type democrats have learned their lessons well in the past. Enacting another mag cap restriction/assault weapon ban would be political suicide even IF they could. The congresswoman that was the victim of this horrendous crime was very progun and in fact a Glock owner. Panic buying will only drive prices through the roof AND ALOT of dealers like to feed the panic, so ignore it.

Well gang I have my, uh, high capacity guns and high capacity mags. Bought them LONG TIME AGO.
Don't wait till some panic to buy these things. Get them at normal prices and stock some away. And BTW, that's good advice for other things that might get in short supply during a crisis. Deaf
