Just click on edit...remove all the text you want, and put SOLD.

Doesn't the period for editing expire in 4 days or something?

Hmmmm, not sure about that. In that case I would just PM a mod. and ask them to delete it, they're pretty good to help here.

Yes, the editing time window is 4 days. After that period the Edit button disappears from your posts.

For any classified threads, simply add a post saying the item is sold. That will prevent any inquiries from the 95% of members who actually read the final post before posting themselves.

If it is imperative that a post edit be made after the editing time is over, as SilentHitz said, simply PM any moderator who will be able to perform the edit.

How do I delete a post [tag] that I accidentally put up. Several times now I've posted and went to edit to delete it, and I can't. It always says it needs to be a couple characters longer. When I say accidentally, I mean , well like sometimes while I'm writing a post, when I actually get it up there, someone else has already said the same thing, or like tonight, on the thread about how to put quote tags on something, I was trying out what I had just read and it didn't work. I went to edit the tag to delete it and couldn't. Help?

The system requires that all posts be several characters long (it prevents silliness like "+1").

When you need to delete a post, simply delete all the text and add the word "delete". That will be a valid post length and it will also flag the post for deletion by a mod who might happen to see it. If it doesn't get physically deleted later on, it's no big deal. There are probably thousands of posts on TFL right now that only say "delete".

Gotcha- I wasn't sure and didn't want to keep putting up tags that simply said delete.
