S&W Mod. 57 barrel change
Stumbled across a 4" barrel for my Smith, before I buy how much would I expect to be charged for swapping barrels? My gun presently has the 8 5/8" barrel on it.
Just checked the Gunparts web site and see they list 4 variants of the model 57. How can I tell if the barrel I'm wanting will fit my gun?

SK, if the bbl isn't marked Mod 57, as long as it is the same frame size, N, the threads will fit. If the extractor shroud is long enough then it should work just fine. To install a revolver bbl in my shop runs $90. I think I'm about average so some will be higher and some lower. George

Thanks George. The barrel is on an auction site, I'll e-mail some questions.
