It's used to get kick your thread back up to the top of the list. Its mostly used in the "firearms for sale" section. It took me a while to figure out myself

You'll also see it as "BTT" (bump/back to top).

The natural tendency for many folks is to read threads that are most current... those threads that are near the top of the list (or on the first page.) If the original poster is looking to (for example) make a sale... or may be hoping to get a reply to a question... posting a reply to his own thread moves the thread back up. By replying with the word bump or btt the poster is merely signifying that his purpose was to place the thread more easily in the public view.
