if only guns could talk..

The 7th photo says "etched panel .44-40 single action"

My question is regarding the 'etched panel' as you refer to it; i presume you meant to say 'grip', no? The "Notch" (as referred to in old-west tales) indicates that the Colt six-shooter was successfully used in self-defense or in a shootout against another armed opponent... Does the notch indicate a kill?

now if this gun could talk !!!! a heavy used gun ,but for an etched panel in very good condition, the etched panel refers to what you can read on the side of the barrel 44-40 six shooter,it is done with acid , the grips have no notches ,dents are from heavy use ,there is a mark on one off the grips, indicating that there was something placed on the grips at one time

R.O.

What a collection!

I bet every one has a story to tell.

When I look through the photos, I am reminded of the song, "Proud to be an American"

I know from past posts that you are collector in the truest sense of the word. It is a real compliment that you value these handguns.

Thank you very much for all the nice replys on the pictures shared on this thread, most of you will now by know that I live over the pond, and that I have a great passion when it comes to collecting guns, especially the American guns from the wild west era, I used to own some nice Uberti black powder guns, that I sold off just kept the san-marco44 BL.PDR and is still in use,the 16 gauge st ettiene is also frequently used ,using a black powder shotgun is just awsome I just required this gun today ,not a new gun but in nice condition, shooting this gun with black powder ammo will be great fun
slowhand I saw your new guns ,very nice, Pietta are good quality guns ,In the 80's I had a remington like your pietta same model, made by uberti,I can remember that the action was much smoother than the other ones I owned
have fun with them,Doc Hoy I wish I could say that, these guns are real American craftsmanship

Beautiful guns. Thanks for sharing.
It would help some if you would downsize the pics a little.
