Adj gas block on a 10.5" 556

All.

Im putting together a SBR in 556 and am wondering about the gas block to use

The barrel is a 10.5" with a carbine gas system. Im thinking an adj gas block would help control the overgassing AND i could turn the gas off when running a suspressor. Making it a straight pull bolt action but eliminating all the action noise

Any thoughts? Brands of blocks. Trouble with this set up....anything?

Well there is the Noveske Switch-block. It is a very popular choice with suppressor users.

A friend of mine used a JP adjustable to tune his SBR. He got it where he likes it and won't change it.

Larue makes one very similar to the noveske as well. Personally, if I'm building a SBR and have even the slightest thought it'll ever be run suppressed it gets an adjustable has block period dot. Some of the off the shelf SBR uppers run fine without them (think 9" AAC) but for personal builds...yep.

Have built guns in the past without the suppressor in mind, and when the can goes on it's badly over-gassed (lots of gas in face/poor cycling. Then you're shopping for heavier springs/buffers to half-fix a problem you could have easily prevented in the beginning.
