Wheelybird 2.0 - is it worth the extra $$?

I noticed that they have the new wheelybird out now, a "2.0".
From what I can tell from the ads, it comes with a wireless trigger.

Other than that, is there a reason to spend the extra money on a 2.0? I've been wanting an electric thrower for a while, so, doing my research... thanks!

I started with a White Wing electric trap. Worked great, but the foot switch would up set my stance. I then went to a wireless control, that also worked great, but I had to change my hold on the gun to trip the trap.
Then, (this is where everything gets good) I got a Clay Delay voice operated switch.
Now I just load my gun, arm the Clay Delay and call for the bird. I do sometimes forget
and arm the unit before closing the guns action. That sound alone will trip the unit.
And will send a bird off before I'm ready to shoot.

I'm a casual trap shooter, shooting at a local public range where you have to bring
everything with you, but I can shoot as long as I want for just the daily fee.
A electric trap machine is well worth the money spent.

well I kinda figured I was going to get a voice activated remote switch eventually; but I also have a wife and kids so I think a foot-operated switch will be good for a while

I sometimes shoot with a group, so I pressed a old engine remote start switch
into service. Added a length of cord from a old appliance to the switch.
The Do all traps use regular 110V plugs as connectors on the control circuit.

That trigger switch just added a bit of niceness to the setup.

I went ahead and ordered it. A buddy from the UK is coming over next month. We are going to do some serious clay damage together... I think he'll love it.

With a cycle time of less than two seconds we are too busy shooting to take
pictures!

Going forward, another thing you might want to consider is buying a used commercial machine - yes they are more expensive, even used, but they are built to throw hundreds of thousands of targets. Whether from a club closing or upgrading, you can get brands like LaPorte, ProMatic, MEC, Winchester and others for decent pricing

The cost difference between a used commercial and a new can be used to buy
clays and shells. can be handled by one person.

And the commercial trap will be harder to handle, than the DoAll trap

But it will also throw further and faster and typically last a lot longer. Commercial sporting machines are mounted on wheels and can be moved by hand or atv

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I think that if I end up wearing out the wheelybird I will step up to a commercial thrower. Before we get there, however, I will have a chance to find out how often I end up using the trap and how I like it...

Tried it out for the first time yesterday.

Main observation -- this thing has to be leveled just so. If it isn't, the clays just don't feed right.

The foot switch I can get used to.

With my Winchester model 1300 pump I was actually able to hit some birds.

Funny thing is, with my Remington 11-48 semi auto, I wasnt able to hit a thing...

Take a friend with you next time, he/she can operate the switch.

The foot switch does throw your stance off that much.

Going to try it again this weekend.
Watched a lot of videos, took some time to learn what I was doing wrong.
In the meantime, the bruise is healing nicely...

There is one thing about the electric traps -- you tend to go through a lot of
shells and birds quickly.

I have a trick up my sleeve. I recover a lot of the clays, since I don't hit most of them

Our public range is open only four days a week, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Thursday morning shooters will usually walk the field before shooting, a couple of
times I've left with more birds than I started with after my shells ran out.
