Repair Very Minor Scratches In Clear Coat On Winchester 70

I bought this one new in 1974. The stock is mint except for a few very minor scratches in the clear coat that do not go below the clear coat. Any ideas on how to get them out? Thank you.

Wet sand it with a paper starting around 1200 grit, then finer in that spot. You do it the same way on clear plastic and glass, and is the way they are removed on car bodies. Also, sand with the grain, and do it lightly. After, give it a coat of wax, and buff with a lambs wool buff.

Appreciate the comeback DG. Just trying to get some ideas on this project...trying to get from 99% to 100% & don't wanna end up sorry I had not left it well enough alone. In a couple days I guess I'm gonna have to just pull the trigger on this one. It's a beautiful rifle as is, but not quite perfect.
