Who has used Caldwell pistol test?

I want to get some sort of rest for testing the true accuracy of a handgun, without forking over several hundred for a ransom rest. Has anybody used one of these or something similar? How did it work out?

Not that one, but I have used something very similar. It's just a pre-packaged variation of shooting off sandbags. Not the same thing as a Ransom rest at all, but a lot more portable and a lot more useful. I have a Ransom rest. The problem is that when I clamp it to the bench at the range where I shoot, .45 ACP has enough recoil that the entire benchtop moves.

Consequently, I haven't touched the Ransom rest in two or three years.
