another newbie
I just loaded my shells 44 special, any ideas on were to find the least expensive brass.

Thanks.. checked them both out the starline new is cheaper than the once shot, How is the starline brass in your opinion? Like i stated I'm new to reloading I was shooting blazer nr alum liked it but $$$$.

I have bought at least 10,000 rds from them in the last two yrs... 357mag 44mag 45auto 45LC 500mag 460mag

Have you ever loaded special loads for your 44 mag if so what powder do thinks the best for special loads? I loaded with ramshot true blue. Only loaded a few to test.

I use Titegroup in mine... but I only use 44 for paper shooting...
... its a low charge weight powder and goes further.

Thats mostly what mines for, also its my carry. 2inch barrel easy to carry.

You loading 44mag or 44special???
I load for 44mag..and it only takes 8.0 grain a powder for a 200 grain cast bullet.

Loading special only with true blue start is 6.0 grains. Other powders say 5.0 so i loaded low side.

44special from hodgens website...for a 200 grain cast bullet titegroup powder is from
4.5 grains to 5.4 grains http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

ramshot data for 240 HDY HP XTP START 6.0 MAX 7.0 Ture blue . Zip for same bullet is start 4.0 max 5.0. Glad i i went low side to test.

I load Unique in the .44 Special and I've settled on an old load for that cartridge. 7.5 grains of Unique, 240 grain semi-wadcutter, and any standard primer. It's got a little more oomph than the standard factory loading, but not nearly the oomph of a full-house magnum load.
If I want anything with less power, I'll use another caliber. |
