M&P Shield

In the new Avengers movie, Nick Fury uses an M&P pistol and is the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. Given the release dates of the movie and new pistol I'm guessing this is a marketing gimmick. Is the pistol he uses in the film a regular M&P or the new Shield?

It is a full sized M&P. I can't deny the marketing strategy, but honestly I think it was called a Shield because its a CCW based weapon to "shield" (read: defend) you from threats.

Did you notice when Fury fires the pistol, there is no recoil? One scene in particular really took me out of the action. (read: lame)

I seen people shoot Glocks like 22's, you think there is no recoil....

No they didn't and come to think of it, neither does Rambo until the 30 or 40th round.
