Walther PP

The double action function does not work on my 1941 Walther PP.

I have another complete hammer assembly to replace the original (which was broken) but am having trouble getting everything to function properly.

The new hammer does not cock when all is assembled...obviously, I neglected to do a step or I have reassembled in the wrong order.

Any ideas?

Check the rotating sear for free movement when the trigger is pulled.

Check the sear engagement with the double action strut on the front of the hammer.
When the trigger is pulled the top rounded area on the sear should go under the strut on the hammer and push the hammer to the rear.

Make sure the DA strut is free to move in and away from the hammer.

Make sure the strut clears the sear when the hammer is lowered with the trigger pulled.

Check the engagement with the sear shelf and the single action "nose" of the hammer. There is a shelf or ledge on the bottom of the sear that the nose of the hammer engages for SA.

Make sure the trigger draw bar is properly engaging the notch in the right side of the sear.
When the trigger is pulled the draw bar should engage the sear and rotate it forward.

I replaced the hammer assembly which corrected the problem.

Thanks, all.
