Anyone Ever Heard of This?
I was at an out-of-town gun show last weekend and I saw a short-barreled 12ga pump shotgun that was very pleasing to the eye and had a very reasonable price. It had "Escort" written on the side of it, it had a flat, stainless matte finish with black renderings. It was priced at $225 NIB. I would have gotten it except for 1) I had never heard of the brand, 2) My buddy, who is "Mr. gun guru" had never heard of it, and 3) The dickweed behind the table didn't even see fit to look at us even though we were handling it and clearly interested--I might have been persuaded if I could have gotten some background on the damn thing.
Anyway, has anyone heard of this brand? Is Escort the model name or the manufacturer? If you have, are they reliable? Google led me a merry chase, but I could not find out anything conclusive. Thanks in advance for your input. Last edited by Digital Chainsaw; March 15, 2006 at 11:35 PM. |

Able Ammo has a bunch of Escort pumps and autoloaders. They seem to be Turkish guns. From comments on other forums people have had bad experiences or are very suspicious of such an inexpensive gun ($300-400 for autoloaders). They look like 390 knockoffs. No experience with them myself.

Guys, America is full of good used, made here pumps that can be had for about that much.
My most recent 870 WM cost $178 out the door, near new. They are reliable, durable, user friendly and available. Buy American when your safety is on the line.... |

+1 on that! Besides, where are Escort owners going to go for parts and service? I'd be leery of buying an unknown foreign gun when my local smith can service something better-known and home-grown. Half my guns are used and I've never had a problem with one.

I got one of the Escort Aimguard pumps. It has a 20" barrel with a 7 shot mag tube. Not a bad gun. Came with a pistol grip and gunlock. Never used it much. Its not a bad gun in my opinion.
