Cast bullet load 30-06

Anybody have a pet load for 195gr GC in 30-06. I'll be using a springfield 03.
Have 4lbs of Surplus WC-846. Been told it has the same burn rate as BLC-2

Generally, you want to hold the GC velocity to a max of 2,000 to 2,200 ft/sec.

You can get there with around 20 to 25 grains of 2400. Or equivalent burn-rate powders, SFAIK.

Nobody knows why, but there have been reports of detonation with reduced loads of IMR-style powders. (.243 with 3031, reported in The American Rifleman.) Dunno about other "full power" powders.

For your powders, go to your loading book, I guess.

For a lot of information....
Borrow and read pages 90 through 93 in the LEE MANUAL. Lee does not have the program for downloading. They get $5 for the disk.

You can take your full power load with it's original "hot load" powder and go down as far as you want. It should work with either jacketed or cast bullets.

Many Cast Bullet Ass'n (CBA) competitors use 18-20 grains of 4759 if you can find it. Quantrill
