Minimum expansion velocity for 223 v max

Hi,
I don't reload but I figured this would be the best forum to ask. I'm looking at using 223 with 55 or 53 gr vmax for Prarie dogs and I cant find any statistics on how much velocity at impact is required to expand a these V-max bullets. I figured it might help determine my maximum range. I'm not sure, I hope this isn't a stupid question or the wrong forum. Thanks for any help

You can always call the bullet maker to ask, as well. They sometimes have extra insight to offer from their own test results.

Will do I'll call fiocchi and or Hornady tomorrow. I find the fiocchi cased V-max shoot as well as the Hornady cased in the both of my 223s. At about half the cost.
Checking a ballistics program. If it is 1800 FPS that occurs around 400 yards. I'm not sure if I'm capable of hitting a doggie at that range anyway.
Thanks for the help

Hornady will be the one to call about the bullet. They'll have tested it in multiple chamberings with a wide range of velocities to get an idea of its limitations.
