SOCOM Gets A Midlength Upper at Last

https://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...rod114412.aspx

14.5" with midlength gas and Geiselle MLOK hanguard will be the new "Upper Receiver Group, Improved" to replace the M4A1. Interesting to see how some trends in civilian rifles seep into the military use and vice versa.

Wow pricey! But it’s a good looking combination and probably will be well received upgrade.

Midlength on a 14.5"... If you aren't running a suppressor?

Solid combination of parts...

DD CHF barrel $300
Geissele rail and CH $350
Proper milspec BCG from a defense vendor ~$150

You are sitting at $800 right there... So yeah, it's a bit pricy, but not outrageously so.

Midlengrh 14.5 barrels are becoming a thing... Very smooth shooting from what I here. Companies that do them right like DD and BCM have a reputation for being reliable shooters.

Well, this is SOCOM's new upper receiver and it has a Surefire muzzle device/suppressor mount, so I'd say some suppressor use is contemplated. And it is geared to use M855A1, which is reportedly higher pressure. But I don't think you'd have a problem without the suppressor using decent commercial .223.
