suppressors -- which is quieter, .45 or 9mm?
All things being equal, what's quieter? A 9mm can or a .45 can?
For example, a G21 w/ AAC Evo 45 a G17 w/ AAC Evo 9 Thanks for any responses. |

With the same can design and same speed ammo, I think the smaller caliber will be quieter.

seems logical...smaller hole
I have heard from people that have both that the 9mm works better....as in quieter But I have no idea what other variables are being controlled in those observations |

I will tell you that having owned both, the 9mm is by far the quietest of the two. Supposedly AAC has a new .45 can (Black Box IIRC) that is supposed to be the quietest .45 can out and will rival 9mm cans. Traditionally speaking, though, .45 cans are a bit louder than other calibers.

This
is louder. I'm never (ok, rarely) going to argue with experience, but doesn't the fact that 9mm goes supersonic going to affect it negatively? If youtube comes back up i'll link in a pretty impressive video of a suppressed .45 |

cans
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I thought I mentioned all things being equal (including velocity). It looks like the general consensus is the 9mm is definitely quieter.
