Remington 870 AP Wingmaster

I am looking to buy a Remington 870AP Wingmaster shotgun. I want one of the older ones with the ringed forearm ( 1951 to 1960 or so ). My father had one years ago and I think my younger brother traded it for a bottle of spirits.I can`t afford a lot so it dose not have to be perfect. Let me know what you have . Thanks:

Greetings jbkuter, and welcome aboard

Sorry your "AP" reference may have confused some of the members who don't remember when Remington 870's had letter designations. For the 870 Express crowd, the 870 AP ($69.95 in 1950) was issued when the 870 first came out. No, the AP didn't stand for armor-piercing, it was the designation for the A-grade, Plain model -- nothing fancy. And, as you mentioned, it had the old time "corncob" action grip. That year the 870 ADL (A-Grade, Deluxe model) was $10 more, and the 870 BDL (Special, Deluxe) was a whopping $91.45.

Good luck in your quest for an 870 AP.

slide rail is sharp

when you find one be careful when you clean it. I was giving mine a good cleaning and was cut rather deep while using my finger to oil the slide rail. aparantly 60 years of racking the slide has put a keen edge on the rail. Great gun. mine is 16 gauge, which keeps my buddies out of my shell box. good luck with your search.
