Anyone ever heard of a Harrell powder measure?

Im helping a friend clean out alot of stuff an came across a new Harrell powder measure in the original box with another box of extra parts with it. It has a stainless steel body and I have never heard of this brand. Does anyone know if its any good or not? Thanks.

They're really crummy. If you send it to me, I'll be glad to dispose of it for you. Complete junk.

Ah, the inevitable, "send it to me" post! They're fine powder measures, favored by serious benchrest shooters.

When you see the pricing, you will know why Tim wants you to send it to him... [chuckle]

very accurate measure

Mike, you basically have the top of the line powder measure. The bench rest shooters I talk with talk with normally talk about there Harrell setting rather than grains of powder when the topic of loads get discussed. It chops stick type powders with ease and is accurate and repeatable. As a old timer told me once..ya cann't do much better that that measure.
Congrads on the great find.

Tried it out.

I tried it for the first time today and was amazed how accurate it is. I threw 6different charges of 4350 and 4064 and compared each one and my scale.
It couldnt tell a difference except the first one was 1/10 of a grain less than the others. I contribute that to the first time use with settling. I Guess I got a new powder measure im stuck with. Thanks for the replys everyone.

Mike,
Congratulations on a superb powder measure. I have a Neil Jones Micro Measure, bought some years ago, which is very similar to the Harrell measure. These are the most accurate PM's I know of. My Jones measure throws charges of 4831 as if it were a ball powder. Take care of that Harrell and do not ever abuse it or let it get away. I have alerted my son to the true value of my Jones PM. Hopefully he won't sell it for $20 after I'm gone like your friend did with that PM.

Nope, I keep a notebook with all the values of the items I have. I told the wife and kids that if it isnt in the book, Its not worth that much. This powder measure went in the book with the other stuff thats worth something.

this story reminds me of the time I found a Hollywood single stage reloading press at a garage sale for $20.00....the thing weighed a ton.....my son stated that it looked worn out...I assured him that we could reload 24/7 for the rest of our lives and never wear that press out!

I have that same Harrell measure, and don't plan on buying another one, in this life anyway. It is an excellent Powder Measure.
Kudos on the snag...

Harrell measure are wonderful, Good Score. Not to rain on the parade , but just to set the record straight, the Prometheus Powder Measures at $1200 is the worlds best.

Mean = 39.95
SD = 0.010
ES = 0.03 Six-Sigma = 0.062
Process Accuracy: +/- 0.03 gr
