Got my 308 lapua brass the other day, and worked up a load with 41 gr surplus 4895, topped with a 168 SMK. Friday at the range, I got three, 3 shot groups less than .4", with the best being .265! Not too shabby for the Rem 700!
What's the next hill to challenge? |

IIRC, the US military's statistical studies of group size predicts something like a 30 percent "growth" going from 3- to 5-round groups.

Group Scoring
Cheapo, FWIW, I take my 3 shot scores and multiply by 5/3, to result in a "normalized" 5 shot score.
Using your method (x1.3) would decrease the calculated group size, compared to my method - I like it! Have you got a pointer to this mil data? Thanks Dave PS I also need to now concentrate on my scores at 200 yrds, to see if the same round is the best at that distance also! |
