S&W model 669

I just bought a used S&W 669 at my local gun club. This gun looks brand new except when I got home and took it down. It was filthy so into the bath it went. Now my question is what do I have the serial # is TAJ51**. Any help is appreciated.

I happen to own one. The 669 is S&w's 9mm compact 2nd gen pistol. Stainless slide alloy frame. Was shipped with either 12 rd or 10 rd mags depending on which side of the Brady bill they were but will accept any 2nd or 3rd gen double stack mag. Iirc production dates were 1984-1988. Your s/n compared to mine I think indicates an extremely late build. The 669 incorporated some of the advancements of the Asp and devel customs, cut down grip and slide etc...

I love mine. The only reason I don't carry it is I stepped up to a m&p45c. It's still my nightstand gun though. Holsters are limited but high noon can do them. Id probably OC it if I had a reason to. It's old school 80's cool.

Here's the thread you need to check the serial number.

That thread is a good resource. The reason I said his indicates a late build is my s/n is TAH and came with 2 10 rd magazines which means its a post Brady gun. Brady started in 1988 IIRC. His is TAJ which would make it about 2000 guns later. I'm pretty sure the gun stopped production in 1988. Maybe ill go thow mine in the s/n thread to be sure

And the plot thickens. Mine was 1985 but had 2 10 rd mags with it. So the OP's should be 85-86.
ETA- Well I screwed that up. Forgot a 0 in the numbers the OP's gun is 20,000 after mine. I'm not as smart as I thought, sorry yall
