Gnomecoat Fix?

I have a .380 Colt Government Pocketlite model (single action, alloy frame and 7 + 1 magazine) that I had the fine folks at SM&A work on for me with their Deep Cover Package a couple of years ago.

I love the gun and the work that Mac and Doug did on it but the finish has taken a real beating. They used something called "Gnomecoat" on it and I'm not sure how to fix the scratches on the receiver (flat black) and slight pitting that is showing on the slide in some spots where it got damp on a fishing trip to the Boundary Waters.

I'm not sure if I can repair the scratches and pitting or if I have to totally refinish the piece. I'd send it back to SM&A but I hate to have the gun out of service for what I know will be the six to eight weeks it will take to get it done. I'd like to fix it myself, if I can.

Any suggestions or product recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Don P.

E-mail Mac and ask him.

He'll likely respond to you personally. He's a great guy.
