Firearms Transfer - The legalities are dumbfounding!

After Readinghttp://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=534633 ,it has become clear to me that well meaning folks are possibly unknowingly, "operating outside the lines"!

I am in no way condoning anything illegal here, but tell me how this situation could be handled legally.

I know first hand of a relation that was charged and convicted with a felony in one state. He was ordered to remove all firearms from his possession. His father drove to his home (out of state), gathered up all his guns, and drove back to his State of residence.

Was the Father unknowingly breaking the law, also? WOW!

Anyone want to chime in here?

Yes, he was. The thread you linked makes that quite clear.

If you've an idea as to how to get that law changed, by all means start a new thread. In the meantime, let's not be forking threads off.

I might add that the federal laws relating to the interstate transfer of a gun have been discussed in many threads on this board -- including here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
