Glock 43X Gone Crazy!

Howdy, this is my first post so go easy on me please

I have a student, 65yo male, pilots license, hunter, great guy and businessman, who succeeds at just about everything he does and loves the details about mechanics, etc.

He bought a Glock 43X and first time out, was dead on. 2nd time out he was shooting Low and Right so he called me for some Tune-Up Lessons.

His fundamentals are rock solid, as is his grip, first pad trigger placement, and stance. I shot the gun and it is dead on...BUT he is a Lefty haha. Seriously though, he was dead on the first time out.

So I took the slide off and the recoil spring had jumped out of its recess. I reset it, put it back together, and same outcome for him.

What can we do differently?

Thank you!

Here's a good link that may give you some ideas. http://www.gunlink.info/targets/PistolChartR1S.pdf Reverse it for a left hander.

As to the recoil spring coming out of the recess, that's normal and the way they operate.

Did it jump out spontaneously? Or did he fail to reposition it correctly when he disassembled it for cleaning between his first and second outings? The first scenario would be a problem for me. The second scenario (which is the most likely) is a not an uncommon occurrence unless you pay attention during reassembly.

I might suggest that you have him shoot left handed then shoot at a new target right handed to observe the difference in groupings.

Also check the lighting at the range. There is a lane at a local indoor range that has a bare light bulb that shines at an angle to the front sight when shooting that always make me shoot left in that lane. It took a while to figure out what that one lane always made the gun shoot a bit left!

He’s jerking the trigger. Dummy round drill until stops that.

Not uncommon for the base of the recoil spring to not being in the recess as you take it apart. Pretty hard for it to do that when the gun is in one piece.

Thanks to you all!

I printed out the chart and charged up my Mantis. While the 43X has no rail, we will have him shoot my G19 and I will post the results. I also intend to take a 180fps video from my 4K so we can slow that down too. Y'all have been great
