Just wondering about the effectiveness of the different bullets in this caliber. I have my rifle sighted in with 150 gr. Federal Seirra Pro-Hunter SP bullets and am getting 1/4" MOA with it. The primary use of this rifle will be whitetail hunting. Is this an acceptable round for anything larger?

For whitetails smaller than those Maine Woods Monsters, I see no reason why the 120- or 140-grain bullets wouldn't work fine.
The .270 with the 150-grain bullet has taken a lot of elk. You're ballistically similar. I've killed a bunch of 100-lb to 120-lb (Field-dressed) whitetails with my .243, using the 85-grain Sierra HPBT. None wounded and lost, either. If you're a good shooter, hitting tin cans offhand at 100 yards, I'd say you easily have a 300- to 400- yard gun. FWIW, Art |

The 7mm-08 is capable of taking anything we have to offer here in WY, including elk. Just exercise good ethics and common sense and you won't have any problems.
