I don't have the Patriot, but I have it's predecessor, the 4x4 with a wood stock. It's a really accurate rifle, but I bought it as a rifle only and put a Meopro scope on it. I don't like the Crossfire scopes that come with the Patriot package. If it was me, I would replace the scope with something better.

I have heard good things about it, but most all shots will be takin within 250 yds for deer huntin. I think the vortex may be good to do that!

I've had both... I am going to unhelpfully say that it is a real toss-up.
I'd say try them both at the shoulder, see which one feels best. Both are very good for the money. |

For hunting and requiring hunting accuracy it really is a toss up between the Mossberg and the Savage. I have a Mossberg 100 ATR in 30-06 and it is very accurate with my handloads. It acceptably accurate with a few of factory loads. On the other hand my wifes Savage in .243 is very accurate also with handloads and with Winchester 100gr Power Points. I do like the synthetic stock on the Mossberg better than the synthetic stock that is on the Savage.
Hold both and see which one fits you and feels the best in your hands. |

Mossberg Patriot update
Took mossie to the range the other day and using a Harris bypod I shot a 1.25 inch group with some PPU 180's.It was my first time shooting this rifle so I think I can do better with some better quality ammo and more time behind the scope.

I have the Patriot 375 ruger in walnut laminate marine finish--simply spectacular rifle worth twice the $425 I paid for it IMO. Very accurate for a dangerous big game rifle--though I've never fired anything else in it's class.

My brother has a Patriot in 308 with the wood stock and Vortex scope. I cant remember what he paid for it but it was on sale and he got a good deal. Its a very nice looking rifle for the money. The times Ive shot it I have shot some nice groups. A few sub moa but most hovering around or just over moa. Ive never been a Mossberg rifle fan but I like his Patriot.

Got a patriot predator 6.5 creedmoor for my wife. Not a wood stock but it’s a amazing shooter. Mounted a redfield revolution 3-9x50. For that price point that’s one of the best scopes imo. Basically a Leupold vx1 internally I believe.

I got a Patriot with a plastic stock because it was all I could get. Ordered a wood stock soon as I got home with it. Great looking rifle and great shooting rifle. 243 with 70 SMK's stay's right around 1/2". haven't done one thing to it. Never owned a Savage CF rifle but have to believe they are a good deal. They have had a reputation for accuracy out of the box way back in the early days of the 110. The only bad thing about the Mossberg, especially a wood stock one is finding one in Oregon!
