my next gun

Im debating on a new gun. Its gonna be my first 9 mm.I have quite a few pistols, but never owned a 9 mm. This is gonna primarily be a range gun. It probably wont see much defense duty.Im just tired of paying the higher prices for range ammo, as most of my guns are higher caliber. I currently own a couple 1911s, my G23 which is my EDC weapon, a couple revolvers, and then the long guns.Im leaning towards either a steel or alloy frame full size pistol. Im thinking hammer fired... decocker maybe? ..... so many choices. I cant decide. Can anybody talk me out of my first Hi-power?? Lets hear some suggestions. What do you guys think?

If its just for range use, you may want to look at the Ruger P95, very inexpensive and very reliable. Also, if you run into a problem with it Rugers customer service is outstanding.

Another option is the Sig SP2022. They seem to be very popular, and get great reviews. Cost a bit more than the P95 though. My next piece.

I'm a huge fan of my Beretta 92A1. Very solid feel. Very smooth. Looks amazing. Every review ever pretty much says it never has a failure. (Something I read said that military testing put 35,000 rounds through it without a failure and it was only 35,000 because that's where military testing stopped). Accessory rail for lights/lasers/etc... Comes with three 17 round magazines. Big, solid, smooth 9mm built for dumping tons of rounds through at the range, sounds like that's what you're looking for. Just my two cents.

I second the 92A1. I've played with both it and the 96A1 in .40. Top notch pistols.

I believe Ruger is a solid choice but the ergonomics of the Beretta sure look sweet. I also like the looks of the MK 25, as well as the ol hi- power. I think im gonna go put a few pieces in my hand and see how they feel

I really like my SP2022, but do not consider it a range gun. Capable yes but I think a true range gun has a 4.5-4.75 inch barrel.

If I get one I am more into 357 Sig (same caliber, different case) as I think you can squeeze a bit more accuracy out of that round (just a personal opinion and as I reload its not as big a cost issue as someone who buys their rounds).

That said, the Golden Saber is a tack driver (in factory) in my gun for some reason. Good load with other rounds but the Saber beat any of my handloads, grrrrrrr.

a hipower would be a fine choice. other more inexpensive choices would be the cz75b, sig p226, or sti spartan V.

If I didn't already own a Beretta 92fs it would be my first choice for a new 9MM pistol. Since I do, my next 9MM will be a CZ75 variant of some sort. Right now an SP01 Phantom is very high on my list.

My choices would be this:

1. Beretta 92FS
2. BHP
3. CZ 75 variant of your choice.

Actually, with the threat of stopping weapons importation via UN I may buy the CZ. Only because I'm not so sure you'd be able to by this time next year.

The beretta 92's are made here due to the .gov contract requirements and the BHP is an American made gun.

The Hi-Power was designed in Belgium for a Belgian company, was co-designed by a Belgian, went into service all over Europe, and has been manufactured mostly outside the US. Other than the fact that the main designer was John Browning, it's about as European as you can get.

Glock 19

Since you already have a G23, why not go with a G19? Same pistol, different caliber. I have both the 19 and the 23 and would not think of getting rid of either. Just a thought.

I really love my Sig Sauer P6. Nice weight and balance. Makes shooting the 9mm cartridge a pleasure. Only other 9mm I had that was metal was a PT92. Nice gun, so by extension a Beretta 92 would also be fine. Besides the P6 my only other 9mm is a FNX-9.

I bought a 9mm 1911 RIA. Cosmetics aren't much, but it really shoots great.
I always thought they were cool, and they really are. Looking at it, it does have a lowered ejection port, and that probably contributes to the reliability. It's easy to rack the slide. It holds ten and came with 2 mags. I like it.

The Witness Elite Match is outstanding in any caliber. My 9mm is my most accurate handgun, except when I out shoot it with my 45 Match. It basically combines the best of the Sig P210 and the Browning Hi-Power and is hand tuned in Tanfoglio's custom shop. For the price you will find no more accurate pistol. At double the price you won't find a more accurate one either.

So many beautiful guns to choose from, which does make it hard.
Personally, for the money I love my Beretta 92FS Inox. Flawless in many rounds, and in my hand one of my most accurate pistols.
